Radiating from the mighty peaks of Himalayas, the rays of sunlight infuse positivity and hope into the lush hills of Dharamshala. Nestled within this landscape, the project channels this positivity through design. It exists as a sanctuary of rejuvenation, away from the fast-paced mechanical life of the city. With transparent south-facing walls and large outdoor decks, it becomes a reimagination of living with nature.
The artsy haven comprises of a private residence, two guest houses, a café and an artist studio stacked along the slope at different levels, ensuring unobstructed panoramic views of the scenic beauty that drapes all around. A central spine connects all the spaces and weaves the entire complex into a homogenous network.
The design features a light prefabricated construction system, being conscious of the sensitive natural terrain. We aim to achieve a delicate balance between contemporary and traditional design approaches. While the structure is proposed to be made of a contemporary steel frame construction, the traditional cladding material tries to impart a homely warmth into the spaces. Timber and stone are a part of the vernacular architecture of the place. The idea is to use these traditional materials in the form of their contemporary re-interpretations.
